ON the anti-incinerator protesters who spray-painted Shire Hall.

Posted by tomttom: There is NO ONE who believes the incinerator will help Gloucestershire achieve 70 per cent recycling. Look at the evidence - communityr4c.com has comprehensive and independent evidence showing the incinerator will cost hugely more than regional alternatives available today (at least £4.7M pa from year one) and shows how the contract structure will discourage recycling by making it cheaper to burn plastic than recycle it - Theodoulou, if you are really convinced of the benefits then let the people see the numbers, open up to an independent review based on todays evidence (not 2013 guesses). Please don’t pollute our beautiful county.

Posted by joesoapsbrother: Spraying paint is not going to get ‘tomtom’ and his like minded friends anywhere. It’s vandalism and makes you look small and petty.

See how much infrastructure is going into the incinerator project. You won’t stop it now and I for one encourage anything that reduces landfill and generates power. Why these people bang on in a lost cause bemuses me and many other like minded readers.

On David Drew’s backing of Ecotricity’s proposed £100m Eco Park football stadium and business park.

Posted by JLN: David! How dare you suggest that Stroud cannot hold its head up high! We are very proud of our market town status at the heart of the five valleys, our heritage, our position as gateway to the Cotswolds, our huge and highly respected reputation for arts, music and literature, our independent spirit and unique culture. We DO NOT need a football stadium at junction 13 to define us.

We already have a democratic, complete and considered Local Plan for our growth thank you, I suspect that the majority of us would not wish to ‘move forward’ shackled to the fortunes of an upstart football club. Nor do we want to sacrifice our green fields.

Posted by Mister Champagne: Knocking down the current stadium and replacing it with lots of tarmac and houses, then building a new New Lawn stadium with lots of tarmac parking spaces covering what is currently farm fields, and adding in a big new business park... does NOT help the planet.

Posted by Iknowmore: Any eco-development is an oxymoron. The moment you bring the civil engineers in and concrete you’ve mitigated 20+ years of ecology.
