ON the plans to extend the platform at Stonehouse railway station.

Posted by BobinStroud: Great news and although I agree better parking is needed, I can’t help but wonder where they would put it, there is no more room.

Posted by Firenze123: It’s going directly behind my back garden, I live in Burdett Close and will now have people stood right next to my property no doubt chucking rubbish into my garden!

I would like to thank all of First Great Western and the council and whoever else was involved in this decision for asking all the local residents that it will greatly affect their opinions, never heard a dicky-bird!

As for the parking let’s just say a rail user in the past has parked on my drive without asking and couldn’t careless about it as they were going to miss their train to London, however when the person returned later that day I stood in front of her car and asked for £20 parking fee which she paid!!!

Posted by BobinStroud: Don’t buy a house next to a station then.

Sure the platform was short when you bought it but you should have taken into account that things change.

Posted by Firenze123: Oh shut up bob it’s a council property for a start!!

Not one for getting things correct are you.

I’ve lived in the property for 20 years and really don’t appreciate your silly comments.

Posted by BobinStroud: Well then take this as a chance to move on.

There are hundreds of young families on waiting lists for council properties and you’ve had yours for 20 years!

You should move on and let someone else have a chance to start their lives.

Posted by commonmatilda: Does anyone not go to Stonehouse because the platform is short - it is not that difficult to walk down into another carriage to get off?

More parking would make a difference.

A link to Bristol would make a massive difference.

Posted by billgriff: Car parking is a problem at Burdett Road and it is difficult to see how more could be provided there. There would be a possibility of providing some space at a re-opened station at Midland Road. The problem there is that it is in a residential area without any bus links and at a distance from the town centre and the station Posted by clams: Nothing more than a vanity project.
