ON the debate over the installation of a phone mast near Frith Youth Centre in Bussage.

Posted by RadSci: The unsigned document making claims against campaigners evidence, spends 19 pages completely failing to understand, or consider, the biases of the ‘trusted bodies’ whose opinion they rely on.

Posted by Thing II: In case you haven’t noticed, most kids have mobile phones strapped to their heads for precisely 84 per cent of their lives now (scientifically proven, I have the data!). Stop fighting progress and go back to trying to convince people the Earth is flat!

Posted by RadSci: 1). Just saying “you’re wrong” doesn’t fly. You must refute point by point, with references. Failing that, YOU’RE wrong.

2). What exactly is wrong with my description of the scientific method?

3). Comparing short-term localised near-field mobile-phone head-exposure to long-term full-body far-field base-station exposure just shows how poorly you understand microwave radiation effects.

Posted by Thing II: Actually, maybe I am starting to see some evidence that long term neurological damage could be caused. How long have you spent around these phone masts?

Posted by Flash1971: Fine don’t put up the mast and you can all start complaining about the lack of phone signal and 3G. Mobile phones and masts go together - they’re symbiotic!

On the arrest of a driver who tested positive for cannabis.

Posted by Haloge: Unfortunately, it would appear that one may test positive for cannabis consumption for anything up to two months after taken some. So do these swab drug tests mean that a driver can be charged with driving under the influence even if they are totally compos mentis.

Posted by Majestic&Regal: Well done to the police for stopping this driver. Hope you find a lot more.

Posted by Crow: Ah yes, the police wasting resources with the end result that people will use harder drugs that don’t stay in the system so long. Well done.

Posted by Majestic&Regal: So cannabis is a gateway drug then...... interesting...

Posted by Haloge: Sounds like you may be jumping to the wrong assumption there Majestic&Regal. I trust that this is not due to reading tabloids who obviously have a dubious agenda, ulterior motives, and enjoy pandering to the lowest common denominator.

The major problems with recreational drug use are misinformation and its illegality, which unfortunately means that supply is in the hands of the criminal classes who - friendly local dope peddlers aside - are usually not the most altruistic or kindly of people.

Personally speaking i believe that all recreational drugs should be decriminalised, and the money saved on tiresome police work, or the money made by legalised shop sales, used to provide unbiased information on the topic to the professionally bewildered, and as an added income to the NHS.
