SO GORDON Bennetti still persists in misleading people, (see letter ‘Fastest U-turn’ printed September 6).

Blair did much good before the Iraq War, (which had the support of Mr Bennetti’s Tory Party) and Corbyn voted against this war, PFI, NHS privatisation, tuition fees, etc. Labour’s membership has since tripled to over 550,000 and many of those who now support Corbyn would’ve been too young to have voted for Blair.

Corbyn has dragged the Labour Party back to its original values but with great ideas for the future of this country and how it can be run to benefit ‘the many and not just the few’.

He impressed the CBI with a very forward-looking speech last year.

He campaigned for Remain, saying it was better to stay in and reform the EU from a position of influence (which we have now lost).

Now he is obliged to say that he ‘respects’ the result of the referendum and has appointed Sir Keir Starmer MP to deal with Brexit, Starmer talks far more sense than all the Tory Brexiteer MPs put together.

Brexit is a Tory disaster on many counts.

The referendum was only called to pacify the right wing of the Tory party and Cameron didn’t set a limit, eg. over 60 per cent to vote in favour for Brexit to go ahead.

Our negotiators are failing with their delusional, arrogant attitude and the pound has dropped like a stone.

As for Corbyn’s supposed U-turn on student loans, this was dreamed up by the right-wing press.

The Manifesto states that Labour would eliminate tuition fees and this still stands.

Corbyn said that Labour would ‘look at ways’ of reducing the impact of loans that students have already accumulated, eg by cutting the interest rates being charged.

So, no firm policy, therefore no U-turn. Since becoming PM, Theresa May has done so many U-turns it’s a wonder she’s still standing.

Oh, and it’s the Tories who wanted to take away bus passes and have actually been taking mobility vehicles away from disabled people, rendering them housebound so those who had jobs now can’t get to work.

Also, people are suffering and dying unnecessarily due to Tory cuts to the NHS.
