ON the review of the Stroud district Local Plan.

Posted by Cant Take Much More: I hope they will put the required infrastructure in place long before the developers start. The area is overcrowded now, I dread to think what it will be like in 10 years time!

Posted by CoolPuss: These builders will not stop until the whole of Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud and Cirencester are joined up in an unspeakably awful ‘city’ like Birmingham. Infrastructure does not increase profits so will be left to overburdened taxpayers to provide through local government exigencies.

Posted by An actual scientist: As mentioned above, all we ever see is talk of more and more houses without any thought to the infrastructure that’s needed as a result. Where are the new doctors, dentists, recycling centres, schools and transport links coming from? Even local shops and businesses, or are we all expected to file off to giant supermarkets to do our shopping?

No development should be approved without the assumption that every property will have at least two vehicles. This means not only providing parking for both but also proving that the local roads can handle that level of increased traffic AND not grind to a halt as soon as a water main needs repairing.

On the two girls who have started a petition to remove a fence after seeing a calf which had become trapped near Minchinhampton Common.

Posted by An actual scientist: Well done on the girls for trying to instigate this change but petitions are being so overused these days. Why not just inform the landowner of the stuck calf and ask that they remove the fence? I’m not sure you need a long list of names to convince them that’s a good idea.

On Stroud District Council’s review of car parking charges.

Posted by Crow: Perhaps a system, where you pay x amount for the ticket, and then if you should your ticket when you buy anything you get y% off your purchase....

Posted by DanBob: Stroud’s rates aren’t a lot. You can do most things you need to do in the town in an hour or two (60p for one) so that doesn’t add a great deal on to the shopping costs. If you have to pay to park for work that’s different and let’s be honest, should the rest of us be subsidising you?As for the out of Stroud car parks, Nailsworth should remain free for the first hour (or two) but would be OK seeing minimal charges after that.
