SDC News delivered this week contains a heating tip from the heating engineers that maintain over 3,000 boilers in council homes.
My husband spoke to a friend who told him that although he had received a free gas boiler and installation under the government’s boiler grant scheme, the energy prices from British Gas who had carried it out, were such that he could not afford to switch it on.
If the council have heating engineers why do they not carry out these installations, paid directly by the government to do so. That would leave the recipient free to choose the most economical energy supplier, so they can at least use the service as intended and be able to confidently switch it on and stay warm.
