COMMENTS on the revised car parking charges published in the SNJ have concentrated on the traders in the town fearing their customers will switch to out of town supermarkets.
Quite right but please spare a thought for the 36 residents of Flats 1-36 in Hill Paul who have nowhere to park their cars or motorcycles other than in the Cheapside car park and now see their annual parking fees increased by 25 per cent from £455 to £550.
SDC refuses to allow a concession to residents but have agreed that Newland Homes, which is about to develop the adjoining site, will provide 1.5 parking spaces per unit – none of which will be available to Hill Paul residents.
Where is the logic and planning justice?
