Teddy pushed worse crime into background

MADAM - The case of the English teacher in the Sudan whose naming a teddy bear Mohammed took up a lot of space in our national press, and so it should.

But it has pushed into the background the far more horrendous judgement in Saudi Arabia of 400 lashes and several years in prison for a girl of 19 who was gang raped; a punishment that Hilary Clinton described as 'beyond unjust'.

It is a singularly precious heritage.
