SHORTWOOD boss hailed Saturday’s 3-0 victory over second-placed Poole Town as the ‘greatest’ result in his tenure, writes Jim Cunneen.

The long-serving boss said: "That was right up there with any other of our great results since I have been with the club.

"We made a very good side look ordinary."

Shortwood took the lead after 25 minutes. Jake Parrott sent a corner to the far post and Mark Pritchett rose highest to head home.

Wood doubled their advantage after the break. A free-kick from Parrott bounced around in the goalmouth before Tim Haddock hooked the ball home. The Nailsworth side sealed their victory with 11 minutes to go. Matt Bennett’s pass saw Luke Gullick complete the scoring.

Poole were awarded a penalty in stoppage time, but Tom King parried the spot kick and saved the rebound.
