FORMER Forest Green captain Lee Fowler has rejoined his old club for a third spell on a month`s loan from npower League One side Doncaster Rovers.

The 29-year-old midfield playmaker is expected to go straight into David Hockaday’s tonight’s squad for the Blue Square Premier trip to Woking.

The Welshman’s arrival will negate the loss of the suspened Al Bangura and injured midfield duo Jamie Collins and Stephen Brogan.

Fowler left Rovers two years ago by mutual consent after the club declined to offer him an improved contract. During his second spell at the New Lawn he successfully completed a month's rehabilitation at Tony Adams' Sporting Chance Clinic in Surrey for alcoholism.

He forged a good relationship with Hockaday during his off the pitch problems and his nous will boost Rovers as they enter the business end of the season.

Former Donny boss Dean Saunders signed Fowler from Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee during the January transfer window.

He was said to have been a long-time admirer of the midfielder, who he previously managed at Wrexham and had attempted to bring him to the Keepmoat in the past.

Fowler was unhappy when Saunders left Wrexham for Donny and handed in a transfer request which led to his move to Fleetwood.

He hoped to reunite with Saunders sooner but finally completed a deal until the end of the season only for Saunders to leave to manage Wolverhampton Wanderers shortly afterwards.

Fowler started his career at Coventry City before a three-year stint with Huddersfield Town.

Since leaving the Terriers in 2006 he has spent his time in non-League football with the likes of Scarborough, Kettering Town, Newport County and Cirencester Town.

He joined Fleetwood in January 2012 and was a regular in the run to promotion from the Conference Premier.
