FOREST Green boss David Hockaday has signed teenage striker Wes Burns on a one-month loan deal from Championship side Bristol City.

The 18-year-old caught the eye of Hockaday in a recent friendly against the Robins and the Wales Under-21 star is set to make his debut in the Blue Square Premier at Southport tonight, Tuesday.

Burns left his hometown club Cardiff to join City at the age of 16, since when he has been deployed on both wings and up front. He has since established himself as a centre forward and recently scored a hat-trick for the Under-18s at Brentford.

He has made five appearances this season, all coming off the bench since the turn of the year.

The loan deal will expire on April 8, when Burns will rejoin City’s survival push for the remainder of the current campaign.
