MINNOWS Shortwood United will face an FA Cup first round home tie against League One outfit Port Vale if they can overcome Aldershot Town in their fourth qualifying round replay on Tuesday night.
The Wood drew against Conference outfit Aldershot on Saturday in an epic cup-tie. It was a fairytale FA Cup story for reserve team striker and Aldershot fan Sean Lawson, who stepped off the bench to stab home Adam Mann’s cross in the last-minute.
Earlier, the full-time professionals were afforded a debatable 14th minute penalty after Nick Hancock was adjudged to have handled after Jordan Roberts cross from the left appearing to come off Hancock’s boot and into his arm.
Brett Williams’ spot-kick just beat Tom King to give Andy Scott’s team the lead.
Former Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier picked ball number 76 out of the hat in the ITV televised draw this afternoon to pitch the Nailsworth side against Micky Adams’ outfit.
