JUST IN: The Stroud and District Table Tennis round-up
Division 1: Yate took the upper- hand as they overcame Cirencester 8-2 with a maximum for Andy Cox and Will Berkley.
Charlie Jefferies and Paul Bird each won a point for Cirencester, as did Keith Sheppard for Yate before Andy and Will wrapped up the doubles and the night.
Two below strength teams fought out a 5-5 draw at Frampton, where Harry Gwillian was the in form player for Thornbury with a max.
Simon Ward and Paul Carter each won two for the home side, the other point was gained by Kim Selfe from division three. Julian Elsbury with a singles win also combined with Harry to win the doubles and seal the draw.
Division 2: It’s getting tight at the top with Phoenix B beating Woodchester C 7-3.
Nick Watts was unbeaten for the home team and there was also two wins for Mike Davis and one for Pete Stuart before Nick and Mike won the doubles. Don Sweeney won one and John Bunn twice came from two down to win in five.
Table-topping Forest Green B were humbled at home by Phoenix A, who ran out convincing 9-1 winners.
Jimmy Haycraft scored the single point for the Green while Kevin Pride and Laurence Manley were unbeaten in both the singles and doubles. Matt Anderson also grabbed a brace for the visitors.
Frampton B’s blushes were saved when Dave Pearce and Alan Perratt won the doubles. Up until then it had been all Thornbury as Gavin Rogers, Simon Lewis and Mark Attwood all went unbeaten.
Division 3: Forest Green C came away From Randwick B with all ten points as Lucky Gallage, Keith Foord and Tony Poole were all unbeaten.
The experience of the Frampton C trio was too much for Phoenix C as the visitors won 8-2 with top scores for Jerry Dupree and Len Agg and two wins for Kim Selfe.
Roger Simpson scored the only singles win for the home team before combining with Arran Skinner to win the doubles.
Cam A have the bragging rights in their club as they convincingly beat the B team 9-1. Bob Wild, Brian McNeill and Steve Partridge all won three before Lin Callard and Harry Hogan won the doubles in five and saved the home teams blushes.
Phoenix D travelled to Thornbury but went home with only two points as the home team notched up an 8-2 victory.
Graham Eden and Tom Lewis were unbeaten on the night and Len Pattison scored two more.
Andy Hammond scored a point for the visitors before combining with John Catterall to win the doubles. Division 4: Cam C came out on top in an even match with Forest Green D winning 6-4 at home.
Steve Heaven scored a maximum and there were two wins for Will Heaven and one for Tony Powell. Rich Wright (2) and Mike King (1) also combined to win the doubles and keep the score line close.
Nailsworth B collected nine valuable points in their quest for second place as they beat Frampton D at home. Pete Seville scored the single point for the visitors. Alan Welsh and Dave Watson were unbeaten for the home team and Mike May won two more before combining with Dave to win the doubles.
Phoenix H showed Phoenix F no mercy as they beat them 10-0. Rob Arthur, Krzy Kowalczuk and Chris Clifton-Sprigg all won three before Rob and Chris won the doubles. Runaway leaders Whiteshill Vets B steamrollered Phoenix G 10-0 with Chris Varley, Neil Wilkins and Terry Jordan all unbeaten and didn’t drop a game all night.
