CIRENCESTER Town boss Brian Hughes is hoping to bring Shortwood United defender Mark Pritchett back to the Cornium Stadium, writes Danny Hall.

The rival Calor Southern League Div One South & West side have put in seven days notice of approach for the no-nonsence centre-back, who played for Shortwood on Boxing Day.

Hughes told the Wilts and Glos Standard: Pritch is a good aggressive centre- half with plenty of experience at this level. He’s played for us before and knows Shane Anson (captain) and Warren Evans (coach) very well.”

Pritchett, who starred for Shortwood against his old club Cirencester last season, has blossomed since being switched to centre back, accumulating five man of the match awards this season including in the FA Cup tie against League One Port Vale.

His abrasive style has, however, picked up nine yellow cards before the turn of the year.
