WOKING 2 FOREST GREEN ROVERS 1

Forest Green's play-off aspirations hit the buffers this evening as on-form Woking posted a fifth consecutive league victory.

Ady Pennock's  11th-placed side are now  seven points off the play-offs with a game in hand over fifth-placed Alfreton.

Lee Hughes' sublime second-half rocket from a Yan Klukowski assist had given Rovers a deserved lead.

However, Woking netted parity from the spot when a contentious penalty was lashed home by former Forest Green striker Scott Rendell after sub Eddie Oshodi was adjudged to have handled in the box.

The Nailsworth side were rocked by Jack Marriott's goal to hand Woking victory on 82 minutes as he rifled beyond the outstanding Sam Russell to inflict back-to-back defeats for Rovers.

Earlier, Rovers lost  central-defender Aarran Racine to injury and were forced into another defensive change when left-back Chris Stokes pulled up with a recurrence of the hamstring problem.

Pennock included central defender Luke Oliver as captain in place of Anthony Barry, and there was also a debut on the left for new Charlton Athletic loanee Bradley Jordan. Striker Danny Wright was handed a start.

Rovers were without Jared Hodgkiss (sick) and the injured Dale Bennett.
