A JULIE Davies eleven will once again lock horns against Forest Green Supporters Club for a shield in her name.

Much-loved Julie, a former office administrator at Forest Green, lost her brave battle with lung cancer at the age of 51 in 2010

Her son Liam and daughter Leanne came up with the idea to raise funds for the Cotswold Care Hospice, a charity who supported Julie during her illness.

The FGR Supporters Club won the inaugural Julie Davies Memorial Shield in 2013 at the New Lawn with Julie’s daughter, Leanne presenting captain Jamie Ponting the winning memorial shield.

Julie’s son, Liam said: “ Mum was a woman that everyone involved with Forest Green and the wider game new and respected deeply, so we hope as many people as possible will come and support the day.

“A total of £550 was raised last year for Cotswold Care Hospice, which was overwhelming.”

Players pay a match fee to play and any spectators are asked to donate any money they have to help the cause.

The game is scheduled to take place over the May Bank Holiday weekend with the action starting at the New Lawn on Sunday, May 4, 2pm.
