FOREST Green midfielder Marcus Kelly was the big winner at Rovers’ end of season awards on Saturday, picking up both the Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Season awards, as well as goal of the season for his strike against Hyde on the opening day of the campaign.

Kelly has made a big impression in his first year with Rovers, scoring a hat-trick on his league debut at home to Hyde and earning numerous Man of the Match accolades for his performances.

Speaking after the awards ceremony at The New Lawn, FGR Manager Ady Pennock said: “Marcus has been fantastic for us this season. For your peers to recognise you as the player of the year is the biggest accolade you can get. And the fact that the Supporters Club has also given him player of the year shows just what a great season he’s had with us. He thoroughly deserves both awards.”

James Norwood also picked up the gong for top goalscorer, reaching 18 league goals after his final effort in the 1-1 draw against Wrexham on Saturday.

Yan Klukowski, who this season became Rovers’ all-time goalscorer in the league, was second behind Norwood on 14 goals, with Marcus Kelly third on nine.

Clubman of the Year, a special award for those who have made exceptional contributions to FGR during the season, was given to matchday media manager Richard Joyce.
