SCOTT Redding will start today's Spanish Grand Prix from the sixth row of the grid, after bouncing back from a crash in qualifying.

The 21-year-old Briton struggled with a lack of rear traction throughout the session, but the crash came when he lost the front under braking.

The Quedgeley rider managed to ride the bike back to the pits before returning to the track and immediately setting his fastest lap of the session.

Redding said:“ Since the beginning of the weekend we’ve managed to improve the bike on the brakes, but we’ve not been able to stop the rear spinning up everywhere.

"Basically, we need to find more grip. That’s going to take some work, but tonight I’ll sit down with the team to go through all the data and see if we can find some improvement.

"I had a small crash in qualifying, losing the front as I came off the brakes, but the bike was okay and I managed to get back out on track and set my fastest time straight afterwards, so it wasn’t too bad. I wasn’t able to catch the group of riders ahead of me, but that has to be the target for today."
