JORDAN WEAVING secured a stunning first win of the season in the British Motostar Championship race at Oulton Park, writes Alannah Fellows.

The Cirencester Deer Park student, who lives in Stroud, started the race from second position on the grid and was in a three-way battle for the lead throughout.

In a nail-biting finale the 16-year-old was able to cement the lead halfway around the last lap, as second-placed Joe Irving crashed out at Hizzy's Chicane.

Weaving now leads the Moto3 element of the championship series by nine points after two rounds.

"I just can’t believe this. It was one of the most epic and enjoyable races I have ever had," said Jordan.

"During the final lap I managed to take the lead with Irving and Ed Rendell right on my tail.

"I managed to get through the backmarkers as fast as I could. Joe, who was in second place at the time, lost the front, which left me to take the win.

"I hope this victory is the first of many but it’s a long championship and it’s only the start so anything can happen.

"I want to give all my sponsors – Burkert, Xpress Coffee, Shark Helmets, SMES, and 151s – a very big thank you as well as my family, friends and everyone who has supported me and helped make today possible."

Despite a five-week gap before the next round at Snetterton on June 15, there will be no time to relax for Jordan as he turns his attention back to preparation for his GCSE exams.
