GLOUCESTERSHIRE set Surrey a target of 267 as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals on the second day at The Oval.

Surrey will resume tomorrow on 41-0 with former South Africa captain Graeme Smith on 34 not out from 35 balls.

It didn’t take long for Gloucestershire to mop up the tail as Surrey only added 14 runs to their overnight first innings score of 118-6, seamer James Fuller finishing with figures of 6-47.

That gave Gloucestershire a 36-run lead and they strengthened their grip on the game when Chris Dent (54) and Michael Klinger (33) put on 76 for the first wicket before losing their way to 230 all out with Chris Tremlett giving the England selectors a reminder of his ability by taking 6-59.
