CAMEROONIAN midfielder Clovis Kamdjo has signed for Forest Green on a two-year deal from crisis club Salisbury City.

Kamdjo’s former club have been under a Football Conference transfer embargo since April and it is thought staff wages have been delayed for the last two months.

The tough-tackling 23-year-old midfield general made 34 league appearances for Salisbury last season, scoring four times.

A former Reading and Barnet player , Kamdjo started his career at centre-back but Forest Green boss Ady Pennock insists his new capture will play in the middle of the park.

“Clovis can play at centre and right-back but for me he will compete in the middle of midfield as a holding player.

“He brings strength, height and mobility and keeps the ball well.

I’ve known about Clovis for a few years and watched him quite a few times when he was at Barnet. He was a standout for Salisbury both times we played them and throughout last season.

“He’s got plenty of experience for a guy so young and is terrific in the air and on the ground. Yet despite that physical style there is precision in what he does.”

Kamdjo came to England at the age of 14 and started his career in the Academy at Reading in 2005.

He was youth team captain and featured regularly for the youth and reserve sides, although he failed to make a single first-team appearance for the club.

He was sent out on work experience to Cheltenham Town and also had a trial with the club.

He was released from the club in 2009 and joined Barnet on a free transfer after being on trial.

He became a regular in the 2010–11 season playing a part in the 'great escape' avoiding relegation from The Football League on the last game of the season.

Kamdjo has also represented his country at under-17 and under-21 level.

Rovers are now somewhat overloaded in the midfield department with Kamdjo, Sam Wedgbury, Kieron Forbes, Al Bangura, Anthony Barry and Marcus Kelly- fighting it out for two places in Pennock’s preferred 4-4-2 formation.
