RUGBY: Trinder's solid on England debut as second string try to catch Lancaster's eye
GLOUCESTER star Henry Trinder made his senior debut for England in the crushing 38-7 win for the national side over Super 15 side Crusaders in Christchurch, New Zealand on Tuesday.
Trinder and the remainder of the second string team were trying to impress head coach Stuart Lancaster ahead of the third and final Test against the All Blacks this weekend. The tourists have already lost the series, albeit narrowly, going down 28-27 in the second Test on Saturday.
Trinder started the Crusaders game in the centre and was bright in attack and dependable in defence during his 56 minutes on the pitch, but it was his Gloucester team-mate Matt Kvesic who caught Lancaster's eye with a man-of-the-match performance in the six-try victory.
Former Wootton Bassett player and Kingsholm regular Jonny May had a late second-half cameo.
