FOREST Green chairman Dale Vince is ‘chuffed’ to see his former manager David Hockaday land the head coach role at Leeds United.
Vince, a left-field chairman in the mould of the flamboyant Leeds owner Massimo Cellino, parted company with the former Watford coach by mutual consent eight months ago.
The two fostered a three-year friendship and a 10 –year goal to reach the Championship, but the dream faded despite the financial clout from the green energy tycoon, who runs Gloucestershire -based energy company Ecotricity.
Vince said: “I'm absolutely chuffed for David, he's a top bloke and worked his socks off for FGR, it's brilliant to see him get this opportunity.”
Hockaday is understood to be finalising contract details with Cellino at Elland Road this afternnon and is expected to be formally revealed in the next 24 hours.
