FOREST Green boss Ady Pennock has landed his eighth summer capture by snapping-up Salisbury City midfielder Rob Sinclair.

The tenacious 24-year-old versatile former Luton Town and Stevenage man penned a two-year deal at the New Lawn, today.

Rovers manager Ady Pennock said: “We are very pleased to get Rob on board.

“He’s a very intelligent footballer and gives us lots of options. He can play anywhere across the midfield – in the hole, in the centre or on the right.

“His work ethic is fantastic for the team and he’s very clever with the ball.

“Rob finds space very easily and creates opportunities. He’s a great addition to the team.”

Born in Bedford, Sinclair began his career at Luton but was released without making a first-team appearance following a loan spell at Salisbury, where he played alongside Forest Green Academy boss Scott Bartlett.

He joined the Whites permanently in the summer of 2008 and spent two-and-a-half years with the Wiltshire outfit, only to be told to find new club when they were relegated two divisions for breaching Conference rules on unpaid debts.

He joined Stevenage on a free transfer in June 2010 and helped them earn promotion to League One under Graham Westley.

Two loan spells at Aldershot Town were followed by a return to Salisbury, but Sinclair has once again found himself the victim of financial problems at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium and has gone unpaid for three months.

Rovers return to pre-season training at the New Lawn this Thursday, with their first friendly of the summer taking place against Birmingham City at home on Tuesday, July 15.

Pennock’s squad overhaul also includes goalkeeper Steve Arnold, defenders David Pipe and James Jennings, midfield duo Sam Wedgbury and Clovis Kamdjo, along with wingers Kurtis Guthrie and Elliott Frear.
