JAMES LOWSLEY-WILLIAMS, a professional racing cyclist who expects to be taking part in the forthcoming Tour of Britain, is putting something back into the sport by organising his own 'sportive'.

And he is using his grandparents' beautiful home – Chavenage House in Tetbury – as a backdrop.

The Chavenage Cycle Challenge will take place on Sunday, August 3 with either 40-mile or 80-mile routes through the picturesque Cotswold countryside.

"I have been cycling professionally for four years and now ride for NFTO Pro Cycling," said James.

"I have been lucky enough to get supported by local companies and clubs which has helped me rise through the ranks of professional cycling.

"I rode for the last three years with Team Youth UK, owned by Nigel Mansell and signed for NFTO for the beginning of 2014.

"Interest in cycling has gone through the roof with the Tour de France coming to the country and the Tour of Britain passing nearby."

Entries for the Chavenage Cycle Challenge can be made online at www.britishcycling.org.uk.
