NEW Stroud captain Harry Foote is following in his father's footsteps.

Harry, whose father Rupert captained the club in the 1990s, said: "I always watched my dad play from as far back as I can remember. He gives me some great advice that I always take on board."

The re-structuring and re-positioning of the coaching structure at Stroud Rugby is now complete and is bedding in prior to coming season.

Joining head coach, Sam Viggers, is club stalwart, Rupert Foote. He takes on a new senior squad manager role, covering both the 1st XV and Nomads squads, whilst another stalwart  Rob Davey, takes over from Rupert Foote as the Nomads team manager.

Rupert said "We’re hoping for the senior squad to continue to grow, having attracted a number of new players during pre-season, all slotting into the team well.

Viggers added "We're are looking to play mid-week development games where players will have the opportunity to play in invitational games and push for a place in the 1st XV.

"The team ethos is excellent after pre-season and a focus on consistent home and away performances has been drilled into the players from the start of July.

"We’re all now looking forward to the start of the league campaign."

Stroud kicked-off their pre-season warm-up with a 47-17 win over Gloucester One side, Old Richians, and play their final warm-up game away against Walcot Rugby on Saturday, August 30.
