FA Women’s Premier League Cup

Forest Green Rovers 0 Blackburn Rovers 7

FOREST Green were knocked out of the League Cup by a Blackburn side containing three full, and four age group internationals at Slimbridge on Sunday.

Blackburn are currently pushing for promotion to the Women’s Super League and this showed as the visitors dominated.

Right from the kick-off, Blackburn played quick, one touch football and, despite the home team’s best efforts, the visitors scored at regular intervals to build up a four-goal lead at the break.

A change in personnel and formation led to a more even second period, with the home team getting more of the ball, and causing Blackburn one or two problems at the back, but with their forward's pace and movement the visitors added another three goals to run out deserved winners.

Forest Green gave a gutsy and determined display and now know what is required if they are to progress up the leagues.

* FGR Ladies have been drawn at home to Oxford City Ladies in the third qualifying round of the Women's FA Cup in a tie to be played at Slimbridge's Wisloe Road ground on Sunday, November 2.
