SLAD handler Tom George insists God's Own has taken his victory in the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter on Tuesday in his stride.

The six-year-old belied his novice status when lifting the scalps of several performers, including Cue Card and Somersby, as he came home five lengths clear of Balder Succes.

George confirmed he will now give God's Own entries in the Henry VIII Novices' Chase and the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown on December 6.

"He's as fresh as paint," said George.

"He's come out of it very well indeed. We're having to keep a lid on him. He's as happy as Larry. It didn't take a lot out of him.

"All the hard work's been done with him over the past year not only over the last month. We've looked after him and he's come good.

"He's going to be rated 160 odd now after that, I imagine, and there's not many novice chasers up in that bracket in November.

"We'll enter him in both the Tingle Creek and the novice chase at Sandown and then see where we are and then possibly go to Kempton on Boxing Day for a two-mile novice, but we'll play it by ear with him."
