Glos Reserve League Div 3/4
Minchinhampton Rams 0 Widden Old Boys II 28
MINCH RAMS gave debuts to five players and several old stalwarts reappeared, but a well-drilled and astute Widden proved too good in a surprisingly coherent game.
Widden started confidently but were no doubt surprised by the Rams scrum where hooker Jim Whalley had an outstanding first game and took two against the head. Adam Stride and new lock Ewan O'Kane both blossomed, showing a maturity beyond their years.
However, Widden soon registered two tries through their strong centres.
In the second half, the Rams controlled much of the game with Jack Reeves prominent and Russell Higgins at 10 showing good pace and being unfortunate not to score.
Minch were delighted to welcome back the evergreen Alan Hawling, who was forceful going forward, and wing Alex Villière, who came close to scoring twice.
Scrum half Tedham conducted some excellent drives from his forwards and though disappointed not to score, the Rams did themselves credit although going down 28-0.
