FORMER top flight referee Brian Stevens took charge of his 3,000th game when Alkerton faced Sharpness Reserves on Saturday.
Brian,75, from Eastington has refereed three games at Wembley - an England versus Scotland schoolboy international, an FA Trophy Final and a Full Members Cup final and Bournemouth’s shock win over Manchester United in the 1984 FA Cup third round.
The whistleblower has continued to officiate games at grassroots level and has no plans to hang up his whistle any time soon.
Alkerton won the Stroud League Division Six clash 4-0 with goals from veteran striker Paul Smith, Andy Broadley, Steve Morgan and Dean Francis.
Watch Brian in action during his 3,000th game at Snakey Lane on Saturday.
