FORMER Leeds United and Forest Green boss David Hockaday has joined Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West side Swindon Supermarine in an advisory role.

Hockaday,57, will work alongside Marine boss Dave Webb and Lee Spalding at the Webbs Wood Stadium.

Hockaday, who was a surprise choice to replace Brian McDermott in the summer, lasted just 70-days at Elland Road before being dismissed by Leeds president Massimo Cellinio after he had won two of his opening six games.

Marine chairman Jez Webb stated; "To have someone of his stature show an interest in our wonderful club is most humbling. With Leeds United being his latest club and Forest Green Rovers before that we all know what Dave's capabilities as a coach are."

"Dave has always remained passionate about Swindon and is really looking forward to working with the management team of Dave Webb and Lee Spalding.

"I am most upbeat about the three of them taking our club forward. Three wise heads have to be better than two wise heads and with Dave's football knowledge at all levels of football, along with his contacts, has to be a very positive move for our football club.''

Hockaday made 245 appearances for Swindon Town between 1983 and 1990.
