The possibility of a new stadium for me comes firmly under the heading of good news.

Living in Cirencester I am constantly engaged in missionary work, aiming for FGR conversions. The problem I continually face is poor parking and the road infra structure. There is a perception that a visit to FGR means getting through narrow streets and then finding nowhere to park. The situation is not like that of course but the reality is so many potential fans believe it to be true. A new stadium would alter that. If one is built please keep the Forest Green name.

Arsenal took theirs from Woolwich to Highbury, Grimsby play in Cleethorpes and there is no such place as Port Vale. With our proud history there is no doubt the name must stay.

It is a pity that the name has been tarnished somewhat this week by off the field matters. The fallout from the Halifax skirmish continues with the inevitable FA inquiry. Those responsible for physical violence can be clearly identified by the video.

The three point deduction is a wretched matter. “Move on John, put it behind you” is good advice I am frequently being given. I cannot. For me this deduction is like a running sore that worsens every time I look at the league tables. There could be a sad situation at the end of the season. Everyone reading this knows what I mean so I shall not dwell on it. It is too painful anyway.

my view is the season still has much to offer us. The next round of the FA Trophy is challenging but our manager is aware of the advantages of Trophy success. We could be in for a fun ride, culminating in a fine day out.

The result at Grimsby was disappointing but the performance was anything but that. Reliable unbiased sources tell me that FGR deserved a draw at least.

The battle for play- off positions will be a tense and tight one, and as long as we keep there or thereabouts until April a final push could bring about the desired result. No one should give up hope until success is mathematically impossible and most importantly this optimism should be conveyed to the players. They need to know we are all behind them. A rousing Boxing Day victory will do us all good. Then a few transfer tweaks and who knows what can happen.

Now to the case of the enigma that is James Norwood. His goal scoring feats speak for themselves and his ability cannot be questioned and could easily play at a higher level. James must improve his disciplinary record. I am sure James knows this but at times is his own worst enemy.

James wears his footballing heart on his sleeve, so much wanting to do well, both for his own and for the club’s sake. All of us can help him by remembering the very true saying “Form is fickle, but class is permanent”.

This fits James to a ‘T’. My belief is that James will respond to encouragement rather than criticism. Let us all give him some. He is a charming young man, always with a ready word and if we can get playing to his full potential he will be the game changer his ability allows him to be, but he must realise the way forward starts with him.

Do not leave the game wondering James. To use a phrase that is very much vogue “Keep calm and carry on.” The results could surprise you.
