FOREST Green boss Ady Pennock has dived into the transfer window to pull-off a romantic New Lawn homecoming for former striker Stuart Fleetwood.
The Gloucester-born striker has re-joined the club on a loan deal until the end of the season from Vanarama Conference rivals Eastleigh and is set to make his second debut for the club when Pennock’s former club Welling United visit the New Lawnh this afternoon.
The 28-year-old former Newent Community School pupil began his career at Cardiff City and was capped five times for Wales Under-21s.
He scored 36 goals in all competitions for Rovers in 2007/08, under the management of Jim Harvey and earned a move to Championship side Charlton Athletic in a deal that netted the Nailsworth side a £200,000 transfer fee.
Loan spells at Cheltenham Town, Brighton & Hove Albion and Exeter City followed ahead of a permanent move to Hereford United, where he worked alongside current Forest Green assistant manager Dave Kevan.
After a two-season spell at Luton he moved to Eastleigh in the summer of 2013.
He first made his name at non-League level for Hereford United, helping them to promotion from the Conference in 2006.
Thanks for all the messages..... Can't wait to get started. @FGRFC_Official pic.twitter.com/RwsAE3qGk6
