FOREST Green crowd-pleaser James Norwood made his mark on the history books after becoming Rovers' all-time leading scorer in Conference football with a crucial late winner over play-off rivals Grimsby Town.

Rovers made it five straight victories as Norwood stepped off the bench to hit a sumptuous 84th-minute finish, to jump ahead of previous record holder Yan Klukowski, to register his 50th league goal for the club in 165 games.

Earlier, Rovers nosed ahead when Elliott Frear fizzed in from Stuart Fleetwood's pass following a Grimsby mistake.

Grimsby levelled when Kurtis Guthrie headed Nathan Arnold's free-kick into his own goal before Norwood snatched it for Rovers with his 13th goal of the season, who were indebted to three outstanding Sam Russell saves.
