CHARLOTTE ELLIS has made a splendid start to her ‘South African swing’ by finishing joint-fifth in the Sun International Ladies’ Challenge at the Lost City Golf Club north of Johannesburg.
Charlotte, from Cockleford, shot rounds of 76 and 73 for a five-over par total to finish behind four local golfers.
By her own admission, Charlotte's first competitive round played in sweltering heat on Monday was a little rusty with three birdies and seven bogeys, but she put together a fine final round until bogeying the two closing holes.
It left her just four shots behind the winner Stacy Bregman of South Arica who shot a one-over par total of 145.
Minchinhampton member Charlotte continues her preparation for the Ladies European Tour by playing in another 36-hole tournament later this week, the Chase to Investec Cup at the Glendower Golf Club, Johannesburg.
