ADOPTED Stroudie Sam Russell insists he wants to stay at Forest Green.

Out of contract in June, Middlesborough-born Russell is keen to remain at the New Lawn for a fourth season.

“Whatever has happened at the club in the last three-and-a-half years I’ve been a massive part of it,” the 3-2-year-old told the club website.

“I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. There have been a lot of ups and downs. Hopefully there is a lot more to come but we’ll see.

“I want to stay here. I do love it here and hopefully I’ll be here when the club get promoted.”

The former Middlesbrough and Darlington keeper is only six games away from 150 consecutive Football Conference starts and he feels the current set of players have the quality to go all the way into Football League Two.

He added: “For me it is like a League set-up. I’ve played a lot of games in the League before as well and this is very similar.

“There’s a great bunch of lads who all ability wise are up there."
