FORMER Forest Green captain Al Bangura has penned a short-term deal until the end of the season at Coventry City.

The 27-year-old has joined the League One outfit until May 25 having spent the last month on trial with the Sky Blues.

Bangura has played five Under-21s games for the Sky Blues and captained the side in the 2-0 win over Barnsley Under-21s on Thursday.

The former Watford player left Rovers last summer, where he was signed by current Coventry City first team and development coach David Hockaday at Forest Green in 2011.

City manager Tony Mowbray told the Coventry City website:"We've been impressed with the way Al has performed in training and for the Under-21s, and the way he has improved his fitness during his time with the club.

"He gives us an option we currently don't have as he is a combative midfielder and even though he has been signed as cover, I want to see him force his way into the team."
