FOREST Green assistant manager Dave Kevan’s return to Notts County has come as a ‘bolt out of the blue’ for boss Ady Pennock.

Kevan,46, is a former Notts County player, caretaker and assistant boss is expected to work under former Tottenham coach Ricardo Moniz, who is set to be unveiled as the new manager at Meadow Lane.

Kevan joined Rovers in November 2013 after a short spell coaching Cheltenham Town under Mark Yates. He previously worked with Pennock at Stoke City.

“The move came as a bolt out of the blue to be honest,” said Pennock.

“Dave is a gentleman and to go and coach in League One is a step up for him, so I couldn’t stand in his way.

“Notts County is only an hour from his home, so I wish him all the best.”

Pennock has named experienced defender Danny Coles as his assistant for the remaining five games of the season.

He added: “I’ve spoken to Colesy (Danny Coles) and he has agreed to help out. He will be great in the changing rooms and I’ve also have the experience of Glyn Jones (goalkeeping coach) and Paul Maxwell (physio)."
