DEPARTING Forest Green assistant manager Dave Kevan hopes play-off chasing Forest Green will ‘see it through to the end’.

He has been tempted back to Meadow Lane as part of a coaching team expected to be fronted by Ricardo Moniz, who is yet to be confirmed as manager.

He leaves Rovers with just five Vanarama Conference games to go, but hopes his former side will make the play-offs.

He said:“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Forest Green and I am sure the lads will see it through to the end and reach the play-offs.”

The 46-year-old spent four years at Meadow Lane as a player in the 1980s and returned as No.2 under both Ian McParland and Hans Backe; taking caretaker charge on separate occasions when both left. He was also assistant to Steve Cotterill, when Notts won the League Two title, and Craig Short .

He was sacked as Magpies assistant manager in 2010, going on to take roles at Stockport County, Hereford United, Stoke City and Cheltenham Town before joining Rovers in November 2013.

Kevan admitted his return to the club ‘came out of the blue’.

“This has happened very quickly and came out of the blue,” he said.

“Notts County are the club I started with and I know the chairman wants people around the new manager who know the club.”

The Notts County legend is unsure of his designated role .

“I will certainly be part of the first team set-up, be that assistant manager or coach.”
