A MAN is fighting for his life and six others were injured during a spate of violence.

Police said a 21-year-old man was stabbed in Auchentorlie Quadrant, Paisley, early yesterday.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he has been detained. Hospital staff described his condition as potentially life-threatening.

Officers are treating the incident as attempted murder.

Three men were injured, one seriously, after they were attacked by a group of 10 men and women in the Pollok area of Glasgow.

It happened in Braidcraft Road around 9.15pm on Sunday.

The men, aged 26, 36 and 52, were taken by ambulance to Southern General Hospital.

All men have now been released from hospital.

Police said the 52-year-old suffered facial injuries. He was kept in hospital overnight and released yesterday.

A 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman were arrested.

In Govan, a man was stabbed as he made his way home from a friend's house.

The 21-year-old man was making his way along a lane at the side of Barlogan Avenue with a friend when three men, who were sitting in a small dark car just near to the lane, jumped out of the vehicle and attacked him.

His friend managed to flee uninjured. It happened around 11.15pm on Sunday.

The suspects are believed to have made off in the car along Barlogan Avenue, in the direction of Ibrox.

The victim was taken to Glasgow Southern General Hospital where he was treated for stab wounds. Medical staff describe his condition as "stable".

Police are treating the incident as attempted murder.

Officers are keen to trace a group of teenage boys who were seen running past Picasso's fast-food shop just after the incident happened and were then seen getting into a small blue car which was parked on Paisley Road West and drove off towards the city centre.

Elsewhere in Glasgow, a bystander was attacked as she tried to stop a fight around 11.30pm on Sunday.

The 51-year-old woman was seriously assaulted on High Street outside the Old College Bar. She became involved in a fight with a man and a woman, also patrons of the bar, who seriously assaulted her.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where she was described as being in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man was injured during an unprovoked attack in Uddingston.

It happened shortly before 10am on Sunday as he left the Rowantree Public House on Main Street. He was attacked by a man armed with a sharp object.

He was helped by a woman and taken to Monklands Hospital to be treated for facial injuries.

The suspect is described as being white, mid 20s, tall, medium build with short brown hair shaved at the sides and large ears.
