FOREST Green boss Ady Pennock insists there will be plenty more swings and roundabouts during his four-game quest to grab a shot at the play-offs.

Rocked by a 3-1 Good Friday home defeat to Aldershot Town, Pennock is aiming to see his promotion chasing side return to winning ways at Chester City on Easter Monday.

The final furlong is in site and Pennock is remaining upbeat despite a wretched second half performance against Aldershot.

"We've got to take the defeat against Aldershot on the chin," said Pennock.

"We need to quickly move on and I certainly believe we will see plenty more twists, turns, swings and roundabouts.

"The boys trained on Sunday, and we watched the game back, but we will move on and be positive."

Pennock's dislike of the live TV cameras was endorsed as his team failed another screen test.

He said:"I am not keen on the cameras - that's five games on TV, and I've not won one.

"I thought their lad (Brett) Williams was fantastic all game. That was the best centre forward performance I've seen, and I think he was the difference.

"They were three awful goals to concede and individual errors cost us. "We've got two young centre-backs and a young goalkeeper, but Williams was very good for Aldershot."

Earlier, it started so brightly with Rovers grabbing the lead inside nine minutes. A suspiciously offside looking Elliott Frear touched in for his fifth goal of the season following exquisite David Pipe, Kurtis Guthrie and Jon Parkin approach play.

Pipe, playing in central midfield was Rovers' man of the half. He grasped the responsibility that comes with status and expereince. It was his cross which saw a Guthrie stinger bring out the best of former Swindon Town goalkeeper Paul Smith.

It wasn't all Rovers and Pipe had to be at his best to clear a Brett Williams strike off the line. Guthrie was looking Rovers' most potent striking threat as he planted a header wide from a James Norwood cross.

The fragile 1-0 lead was threatened on the cusp of the break as Damon Lathrope hit a fizzer from 35 yards, but a great hand from Steve Arnold stopped a certain goal.

Driving rain greeted the second half, but Rovers almost bagged a second from the whistle. Marcus Kelly released the fleet-footed Frear and his scampering run was blocked in the box, but Parkin failed to hit the target from inside the box.

That was as good as it got as Rovers pressed the self-destruct button to leak three goals in eight minutes of madness. Goalkeeper Arnold failed to claim a ball in the box and Williams turned to volley home a Jordan Roberts' cross.

Three minutes later Charlie Clough failed to clear a ball across the box for Tristan Plummer to score from close-range.

The Shots made it 3-1 when the unmarked Roberts glanced the ball in at the near post from a Lathrope free-kick.
