A GROUP of Hartpury students and staff headed for chilly climes to spend an adrenaline-fuelled week on the challenging slopes of Tignes and experience the British Universities Snowsports Championships (BUCS) for the first time.
The 25 Hartpury students and staff spent six days skiing, watching the University Snowsports Championships and taking part in many more snow-related activities in the French Alps.
College and university students and staff from across a range of subject areas were greeted with snow falls and fresh powder, which lasted the entire week. They also had an opportunity to sample unique ‘après ski’ activities such as a Secret Forest Party, which was delivered by the British Universities Snowsports Council (BUSC).
University Sport staff member, Sam Hurley, and the Snowsports Club committee organised the trip for Hartpury. From first time skiers to seasoned snowsports enthusiasts, the trip provided a perfect platform for improving their skills while enjoying a host of a social and cultural experiences.
Sam said: “It was a great experience for all involved and it’s fantastic that the Snowsports club has continued to generate more interest. From watching the BUCS championships performances and taking in the stunning mountain scenery to living the après ski activities with other universities, it was a trip not to be forgotten.”
The Hartpury snowsports club has continued to grow with this trip and is already preparing for the next adventure, with hopes to enter the BUCS Championships in the next academic year. The club has just elected a new committee, providing the perfect opportunity for fresh ideas and planning many more memorable experiences.
