ROZY BAYNHAM and Nicky Clift have been selected to represent Wales at lacrosse in the U19 World Championship which takes place in Edinburgh between July 23 and August 1.

Both girls impressed when lining up for Wales in the U19A team at the Edinburgh home internationals in March. They also toured the US with the Wales squad in April.

Both girls have endured quite a tough schedule in the last six months because in addition to earning international recognition at their sport they are about to take their A-level exams.

They also raised much needed funds to pursue their sporting goals when battling through 10km of mud and water in February when they took part in the brutal Mud Runner Icebreaker cross country event at Eastnor Castle.

Rozy, who will be joint captain of the Wales team in Edinburgh, is a student at Rendcomb College and lives in Oakridge Lynch. She has been playing lacrosse and hockey since junior school, has qualified as a level one lacrosse coach and enjoys horse riding and tennis.

Nicky, who lives in Meysey Hampton and goes to Malvern St James School, enjoys hockey, cycling, swimming, and is a qualified lifeguard as well as playing lacrosse at school, county and regional levels.

Nicky and Rozy have been friends for more than 10 years and are delighted to share this recent success.
