ADY Pennock has bolstered his Forest Green backroom staff by naming former Ebbsfleet United boss Jamie Day as assistant manager.

He replaces Dave Kevan, who moved to Notts County in March.

A former captain of Pennock’s at Welling, Day,35, previously managed the Wings during a five-year player-manager spell, where he led his side to the Conference South title in 2012-13, his third full season in management.

He left the Kent outfit last December to join big-spending Vanarama Conference South side Ebbsfleet, but was sacked in April after losing nine of his 20 league games in charge, drawing four and winning just seven.

Day started his career at Arsenal, making the first team subs bench once for the Gunners, he then moved to Bournemouth for a fee of £20,000. The midfielder also numbers Dover Athletic, Grays and Dartford amongst his former clubs.
