I HAVE really enjoyed my first six weeks in Bristol, the boys have been awesome and the fact that we all get along very well, definitely helps when you step onto the pitch.

The competition is as strong as I thought it would be. It’s the top competition in the country so the standard is what I expected.

The conditions are different to back home and it has been tough to get used to them and adapt my own game.

In Australia the pitches are obviously a bit quicker and bouncier and it is a bit more about the reversing ball.

Over here there is conventional swing for longer and the ball seams a bit more and you have to try and play a bit later and straighter. I was pleased to get my first half century against Essex and hopefully I can push on and start scoring more consistently.

We started to hit our straps with bat and ball and in that match and we showed what we can do.

The challenge for us now is to play like that in every game. If we can do that consistently there is no reason we can’t give the Championship a good shake up and finish near the top somewhere.

I can’t wait to play my first NatWest T20 Blast match on Friday against Middlesex at Bristol. It will be nice to open up a bit more, show a bit more flair and hopefully get Gloucestershire off to a good start.

The boys have told me it is a great atmosphere at the County Ground on a Friday night and I am really looking forward to it.

Middlesex’s two overseas players are Adam Voges and Joe Burns who are both Australian so I have played against them and know they are both dangerous players. Apart from them I don’t know too much about the rest of the team.

With all the Championship cricket we haven’t had a chance to focus on the match yet but we will do our preparation on Thursday and be ready for them on Friday.

Gloucestershire’s NatWest T20 Blast match against Middlesex takes place on Friday, May 15 at 5.30pm.

Tickets are available by clicking link here or on the gate on the day of the match.
