FOREST Green have made a double raid for Newport County AFC captain Darren Jones and Lincoln City striker Delano Sam-Yorke.
Manager Ady Pennock opened talks with duo last week and both players have penned one-year deals after passing medicals at the New Lawn this morning.
Jones, 31, rejoins Rovers after a seven-year absence.
He was offered a new deal by boss Terry Butcher and was expected to see his career out with his hometown club.
He was a big hit with the County faithful thanks to a series of inspirational displays at the back and some stunning goals at the other end.
Jones has also played for Hereford United, Aldershot Town, Shrewsbury Town and AFC Wimbledon, before returning to his hometown club last summer.
Sam -Yorke,26, joined Lincoln City on a free transfer from Cambridge United in January and scored against Forest Green last season.
He played a big part in getting Cambridge promoted back to the Football League, scoring both goals in the second leg of the Conference Premier play-off semi-final as they defeated Halifax on aggregate.
Sam-Yorke started out in Woking’s youth team and made his first-team debut as a teenager under Colin Lippiatt in the final game of the 2007/08 season.
