FORMER Newport County AFC left-back Andy Sandell played for a Forest Green eleven in a 2-2 draw against Salisbury FC at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

Sandell, a former Bristol Rovers and Salisbury City player, is a free agent following his release from County and lined up for Rovers alongside former Forest Green and Salisbury striker Robbie Matthews.

Forest Green Academy boss Scott Bartlett had agreed to bring a side to his old stamping ground, where in a nine-year period he made 400 appearances.

Portsmouth striker Matt Tubbs, a popular former face at Salisbury, joined Bartlett as part of Forest Green’s coaching team alongside ex-City favourite Rob Sinclair.
