THE nine-wicket win over Kent in the NatWest T20 Blast was a fantastic result and puts us in a great position in the group, having won three games out of four.

Kent were top before we played them, but our performance was pretty clinical. We had to adapt to the conditions, it was a spinning wicket but we bowled well.

They got 50 odd off the power play, but we squeezed in the middle overs and luckily we took wickets during that period which slowed them down and left us with us a chaseable target which Maxy Klinger and Ian Cockbain did brilliantly.

With players like Sam Billings and Sam Northeast we knew Kent had a pretty formidable batting line-up and it is a small ground at Beckenham.

As a bowler you try to realise what they are trying to do and adapt your plans accordingly. But you don’t want to think too much about what they are trying to do - you concentrate more on what you do.

With my change-ups and different types of ball I thought I could outsmart them. Once I have decided what ball to bowl I just back myself to bowl it and that’s the key – you’ve got to believe that you are going to bowl a better ball than his shot.

Some days you take wickets sometimes you don’t but luckily this was a good day. Really you are just looking to for ones or pick up dots and to pick up 3-18 was great. We play Essex Eagles at Chelmsford on Thursday then we are back at the Bristol County Ground to face Glamorgan on Friday night.

We have won two out of two there this season and we are hoping for a good crowd. The way we are playing is good to watch – we are hitting some big balls these days and we have won games comfortably.

It gives you a real lift playing in front of a full house at Bristol so I hope our fans will come out and support us.

Tickets are £15 in advance (adults) or £3 for under 19s.
