WE have Somerset at the Bristol County Ground on Friday night in the NatWest T20 Blast, writes David Payne.

It’s a match that is always at the forefront of your mind, it’s the one you are looking for as soon as the fixtures come out.

The boys are all looking forward to it and with no championship match we will be planning for it all week, I should imagine.

We know the rivalry between the fans is huge so hopefully we can get a good result on Friday night.

It’s been a strange few days, really, I have had some massive lows with the Essex and Glamorgan defeats and then the positive of a career-best 5-24 in the win over Middlesex on Sunday.

I went into the game a little bit low on confidence after the Friday night game with Glamorgan). I beat myself up about it quite a lot as I felt I had let the lads down.

I made sure I came out early before the Middlesex game to do the work I needed to put things right. It came off nicely which I am really pleased with and I’m really happy with the result.

It was a good win (by 43 runs) and hopefully that will put us back on track now in the competition Everyone was very disappointed after the two defeats last week but games come thick and fast and you have to be ready to go again.

We basically went back to the start of the competition, remembered the good things we had done and tried to keep it really simple.

It worked against Middlesex and hopefully it will give us the momentum to carry on.

The way Michael Klinger has played has been an absolute freak show but it was good to show against Middlesex that we aren’t totally reliant on him. Hopefully, he will keep on scoring runs but the performance showed we have other batsmen that can step up when needed.
