POPULAR former Forest Green goalkeeper James Bittner will return to the New Lawn with Plymouth Argyle.

Bittner and his Pilgrims side will face Ady Pennock's outfit in a pre-season friendly on Friday, July 31, 7.30pm

Bittner, 33, joined Forest Green Rovers in 2010 under former boss David Hockaday and was awarded with the Supporters' Player of the Season trophy in his first season.

Bittner left for Hereford United in 2012 following the arrival of Sam Russell. He joined Newport County on a short-term contract and then returned to Salisbury for a second spell as player -coach.

He signed for Plymouth Argyle in July 2014 as second-choice goalkeeper behind Luke McCormick and made his first appearance in a League Two game against Morecambe in January.

Bittner has played 255 games in a professional career that started 14 years ago.
